Pune, Nagpur, Kolhapur, Nanded to get light Monsoon rains

Rain in Maharashtra increases, Monsoon inches closer

Since the last one week, Maharashtra has been reeling under warm and humid weather conditions. Light rains did show up over the region during the last 24 hours but it did not have much impact over the mercury. Only few coastal areas have managed to see some moderate rainfall.

Since the span of last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Tuesday, Ratnagiri recorded 69.1 mm of rainfall, Bhira 20 mm, Mahableshwar 16.1 mm, Wardha 7.8 mm, Aurangabad 4.8 mm, Nanded 4 mm, Harnai 2.8 mm while Kolhapur and Dahanu recorded 2.3 mm of rainfall, Mumbai 1 mm, Alibag 0.7 mm and Nagpur 0.6 mm.

Meanwhile, scattered rains may continue to over Konkan & Goa, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg and Vidarbha during the next 24 hours.

According to Skymet Weather, no fresh Monsoon surge is expected to form over the region. With this, no major rainfall activities are likely to occur for the next 24 hours.

Thereafter, these weather systems may enhance the weather activities over North Konkan & Goa including Mumbai.

Scattered light rain is expected to continue over Coastal Maharashtra including Mumbai, with isolated moderate showers at some places. However, these rain and thundershower activities are expected to remain subdued over Marathwada, Madhya Maharashtra and North Konkan & Goa except Coastal Maharashtra for the next 24 hours.

These on and off rains with isolated spells are expected to continue at rest parts of Maharashtra. The rain intensity over Konkan & Goa, Vidarbha and Marathwada may increase by June 26 onwards.

However, Madhya Maharashtra may witness an increase in the rain intensity over the area by June 29. Till then sultry weather conditions will prevail over Maharashtra.
