Since last many days, Maharashtra has been witnessing active Southwest Monsoon conditions. Similarly, during the last 24 hours, several regions of Maharashtra have been receiving a good amount of rainfall activities.

Thus, places such as Mahabaleshwar, Vengurla, Dahanu, Mumbai, Chandrapur, Aurangabad and Harnai have been recording light to moderate Monsoon showers. Hence, the residents of Maharashtra have been experiencing comfortable and pleasant weather conditions.

In a span of last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Thursday, Mahabaleshwar recorded 69 mm of rainfall, Vengurla 60 mm, Harnai 37 mm, Ratnagiri 36 mm, Nagpur 16 mm, Buldhana 12 mm, Ahmednagar 4.2 mm, Wardha 9.2 mm, Alibag, Sangli and Dahanu 9 mm, Aurangabad 8.2 mm, Chandrapur 7 mm, Amaravati 3.2 mm, Mumbai 3 mm and Nashik 2.4 mm.

These weather conditions can be attributed to an active offshore trough which is seen running from South Konkan up to Coastal Karnataka. Therefore, Monsoon rains are likely to increase over several districts of Konkan & Goa, Vidarbha and Marathwada regions. Hence, places such as Pune, Hingoli, Jalna and Nanded may receive a few good spells of Monsoon rains during this time.

Also, a cyclonic circulation is seen lying over Odisha and adjoining areas of Chhattisgarh. Further, this system is likely to move towards Vidarbha and Southeast Madhya Pradesh.

Due to this, moderate rains with one or two heavy spells of rain are expected to lash several districts of Vidarbha for the next two to three days. Whereas Marathwada will continue to settle with scattered light to moderate rainfall activities.
