Most parts of Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada have been witnessing contrasting weather for the last few days. On one hand, days are hot on account of the above normal maximum temperatures, while nights are shivery as minimums are settling below normal.
In fact, Mahabaleshwar witnessed record breaking day maximum on Monday as mercury rose to 32°C. It also surpassed its all-time high day temperatures which stood at 30.8°C on November 8, 1976.
Similarly, Pune also recorded maximum temperature at 34.5°C that was five degrees above normal, while minimum temperature was two degrees below normal at 10.9. It was also the highest day maximum in last 10 years.
As a result, there is a huge diurnal variation of around 23 or 24 degrees between the maximum and minimum temperatures.
According to Skymet Weather, warm easterly winds from Bay of Bengal have increased the day maximums. However, clear sky conditions have been paving way for the below normal minimums.
Similar weather conditions will continue at least for the next 48 hours as no change is expected in the temperature profile.
We can expect change in weather from December 2 onwards. The well-marked low pressure area brewing in Bay of Bengal is likely to bring good rain and thundershowers over Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh in the coming days.
Due to this, cold moist winds will start reaching up to Maharashtra. As a result, cool winds will drop the day maximums, while increase in moisture will increase the minimums.
Let us have a look at the maximum and minimum temperatures settling across the region.
