Both the southern states of Kerala and Karnataka have received good rains in the last 24 hours. Many parts in Kerala saw heavy to very heavy rains. Significant rain was recorded by Punalur which received 99 mm rains, Kozhikode 46 mm, Karipur 43 mm, and Kochi saw 36 mm rains. Back in Karnataka, Hassan recorded 33 mm rains, Chikmagalur 21 mm and Mysore recorded 11 mm rains.

These rains were witnessed due to the presence of a Cyclonic Circulation over Lakshadweep Islands. Also, a Trough was extending from this system to North Andhra Pradesh coast across central parts of Karnataka and Rayalaseema.

During the last 24 hours, the system has moved further Northwestwards. Also, the Trough has shifted towards North.

Therefore, due to the persisting system, the rainfall activity is likely to continue over the area. Mainly moderate spells of rain will affect Kerala as well as South and Coastal Karnataka along with chances of isolated heavy spells. A few Northwest parts of Karnataka may also receive light to moderate spells.

Bengaluru’s weather will remain mainly pleasant for the next some days. Mainly light to moderate rains are likely in the city and the sky will remain overcast throughout.

The city of Kochi and adjoining areas are also likely to receive moderate spells with isolated heavy rains in the coming days.

The activity is likely to decrease gradually as the system moves away further Northwest.

However, light to moderate spells of rain and thundershower is likely to continue over the next some days, mainly over South Karnataka and Kerala.
