Puducherry records 53 mm rain in 3 hours

While good rains have been lashing Kerala and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry has also not been left far behind. In fact, the region has recorded a whopping 53 mm of rainfall in 3 hours between 11:30 am to 2:30 pm.

Now, the well-marked low pressure area which was over Southwest Bay of Bengal has shifted a little and currently lies between Sri Lanka coast and the Gulf of Mannar. It is expected to intensify into a depression during the next 48 hours or so.

During the last six hours since 8:30 am on Monday, Atirapattinam has recorded 28 mm of rainfall followed by Cuddalore where 27 mm rainfall was received. Other areas to have received good rains include Tiruchirappalli 26 mm, Karaikal 25 mm, Tondi 19 mm, Nagapattinam 16 mm, and Pamban 14 mm of rainfall.

More rains are in the offing for several areas of Peninsular India including Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry during the next 24 hours. In fact, Puducherry may even cross the 100 mm rainfall mark during the next few hours as good showers are expected to continue over Puducherry.
