Patna receives good Monsoon rains throughout the four months of the season, right from June till September. Each year, the city welcomes Monsoon early in June and rains continue till the very end. The heaviest showers are witnessed by July followed by August which also receives good rains.
During Monsoon, Patna receives more than 1000 mm of rain for the entire season. The average rainfall for July is 381 mm whereas the monthly average for August is 282 mm. Also, good rains continue over the city in the month of September as well.
This Monsoon, Bihar received less rain as compared to other years. However, Patna has been doing fairly well in terms of rain. The capital city received 282 mm of rain in the month of July against its monthly average of 381 mm rainfall. For August, Patna has already received 250 mm of rain and with four days left for the month end, it could reach its monthly average rain.
With a slow moving system over Chhattisgarh and Odisha, Patna is expected to observe a wet spell. This rainy spell is expected to continue for the next five days. The rainfall will be of varying intensity, i.e. while some days will record light to moderate rain, other days may witness heavy rainfall as well.
