Isolated heavy spells have lashed North Odisha, wherein Baripada has recorded 44 mm of rainfall in a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday. On the other hand, isolated light rains were observed over West Bengal.

According to our meteorologists, rains would remain on the lower side only until tomorrow over the duo states. However, as soon as the Low-Pressure Area develops over Andhra Pradesh Coast, rains will revive over Odisha. The system is likely to form around October 23 and bring good rains back to the state.

Initially, the rainfall activities would cover parts of South Odisha such Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, and Kalahandi. After some time, the rain belt would cover entire Odisha and moderate to heavy rains would lash the state on October 24.

Further, as the Low Pressure comes closer, heavy rains would batter parts of Odisha on October 24 and 25.

Similarly, the rainfall activities would start increasing over West Bengal from October 24 and moderate to heavy rain would lash many districts on October 24 and 25.

Kolkata may observe moderate showers on October 25, but the intensity would be comparatively more over the central parts of the state such as Bardhaman, Bankura, Purulia, Nadia, Birbhum, and Murshidabad.

By October 26, the weather system would lose its strength and rains would reduce over both the states, however, on and off showers would continue.
