Presently, a trough is extending from South Odisha to Comorin area across Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Interior Karnataka. At the same time, southwesterly/westerly warm and moist winds are reaching southwestern and western parts of Madhya Pradesh.

In the past 24 hours, mostly dry weather was being observed in Central India with heat wave conditions in isolated parts of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha. However, rain and thundershowers are now likely to continue over the region for next 48 hours. Hence, heat wave condition is likely to abate from most parts of Central India after 48 hours.

Whereas, dry weather condition would continue over Gujarat, Konkan and Madhya Maharashtra. Temperatures over these regions are likely to drop while morning temperature would increase as warm moist south-westerlies are expected over these parts.

Yesterday, Chandrapur in Maharashtra recorded 45.8°C. However, soaring temperatures would now take a dip by two to four degrees in next 24-48 hours. Also, western part of Chhattisgarh which is observing 40 degrees plus temperature is now likely to drop significantly as pre-Monsoon rain and thundershower activities are expected to continue over the area during next two to three days. Isolated squalls with moderate lightning is not ruled out either.

Mumbai city will witness mainly very warm and humid weather conditions during next two to three days with pleasant evening to follow. Maximums over here might reach around 33°C -34°C with minimums hovering around 25°C. Humidity levels will be high somewhere around 85%.
