Central and eastern India experienced a brief spell of rain, thundershowers, and even hailstorms in March. However, the past few days have seen dry weather with a significant rise in temperatures. Relief is on the horizon for those longing for a break from the scorching heat, as pre-monsoon thundershowers are expected to commence soon.
These showers will first grace the central Indian states of Vidarbha, Marathwada, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh. The rain belt will then gradually move eastward, encompassing Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal. Parts of Telangana can also expect to experience some rainfall.
The wet weather is expected to begin on April 6th and persist for at least 4-5 days. In fact, scattered pre-monsoon rain and thundershowers are likely to occur across much of central, east, and northern parts of south peneinsular India until the first half of April.
While these showers are welcome for bringing down temperatures and offering respite from the heat, they might pose a challenge for ongoing crop harvesting in several parts of the country. Farmers may need to take precautions to minimize crop damage.
Overall, the upcoming pre-monsoon activity promises to bring much-needed relief from the scorching temperatures and usher in a welcome change in weather for central and eastern India.
