Rainfall has been a regular story for Northeast India this pre-Monsoon season. While almost the entire country is struggling with the heat conditions and burning temperature levels, Northeast India is enjoying the good spell of showers.
Most states of the region like Assam and Meghalaya have been witnessing rains since the last few days. According to Skymet Weather report, these activities are due to a weather system which at present is marked in the Northeastern states. A trough is extending from Sub-Himalayan West Bengal up to Gangetic West Bengal.
Hence, humid winds from the Bay of Bengal are increasing moisture over entire Northeast India, giving light to moderate weather activities. We expect the intensity to reduce marginally in the next two days. Thereafter, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh will start receiving good rains once again, whereas rain activities over Nagaland, Manipur, Meghalaya and Tripura will remain subdued.
In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, North Lakhimpur received 53 mm, Passighat 18 mm, Dibrugarh 16 mm, Majbat received 16 mm, and Goalpara 10 mm rainfall.
The temperature profile in the Northeastern states is not likely to change much. Henceforth, days will remain warm and the nights will be pleasant.
