In the past 24 hours, pre-Monsoon activities such as dust storms and rainfall have been observed with good rains in some pockets. The experts have to say that light rains are a possibility for the next three days in these two pockets as well.
Cloudy conditions with rain and thundershowers accompanied by dust storm and strong winds will be a sight over these regions. Rains are expected to increase tomorrow, today and day after it will be light to moderate in nature only. The combined effect of Western Disturbance up in the North, with a Cyclonic Circulation and remnants of Cyclone Vayu which is now inching towards South Rajasthan and Gujarat, will be held responsible for giving rains over these areas.
Although these rains will not help in improving the deficiency levels on a significant basis. Places like Rohtak, Narnaul, Karnal, Hisar, Bathinda, Amritsar, Ludhiana and Patiala have seen a drop in mercury levels. Yesterday, Rohtak witnessed a drop of five degrees and the maximums settled at 34.5°C. As per the experts, the temperatures will remain under the forties only for the next four days at least until June 20. Thus, pleasant weather with cloudy sky lies ahead for Punjab and Haryana.
Punjab and Haryana are the two pockets wherein Monsoon arrives quite late around the first week of July. Southwest Monsoon in these pockets arrives a stop before it hits Rajasthan. In the month of June as well, Punjab and Haryana witness pre-Monsoon showers only. Till date, for the Monsoon season, Punjab and Haryana are rain deficit by 75% and 62%, respectively.
