While rain has brought smiles in Kerala and Northeast India, it has increased tensions of apple cultivators in Jammu and Kashmir. According to latest weather update by Skymet’s Meteorology Division in India, the weather in Kerala, Northeast India and Jammu and Kashmir will continue to be rainy for the next couple of days.
Last 24 hours saw light rain in many cities in the above mentioned states. Some of them were: Banihal – 1.4 mm, Batote – 2.9 mm, Gulmarg – 5.2 mm, Jammu – 0.4 mm, Pasighat (Arunachal Pradesh) – 2 mm, Kochi - 0.1 mm, Kottayam – 10.8 mm, Thiruvananthapuram – 1.2 mm of rainfall.
“A persisting Western Disturbance will continue to give rain in Jammu and Kashmir tomorrow with increased intensity. Humid southwesterly winds will be responsible for scattered rain in Northeast India and a wind discontinuity will give rain in Kerala and south interior Karnataka for the next 48 to 72 hours”, said Samar Chaudhury of Skymet’s meteorological Division in India.
“There are also chances of thundery build up and isolated light rain in parts of Sub Himalayan West Bengal and Odisha, just as we saw yesterday”, he added.
Meanwhile, rain/thundershowers are forecast for capital city Delhi too. Rain in Delhi is expected to occur tonight or by tomorrow morning, leading to a rise in the minimums and a drop in the maximums. So far Delhi has received 0.2 mm of rain, which was recorded at Safdurjung station on the 3rd of April.
