Moderate to heavy rains with isolated extremely heavy rains have occurred over west Madhya Pradesh during the last two to three days. In fact, Dhar recorded 85 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours. Though monsoon has yet not reached Madhya Pradesh, rain activities have increased significantly.
As on June 10, west Madhya Pradesh has received excess rainfall and is surplus at 166 %. Meanwhile, East Madhya Pradesh has received 10% less rain than normal.
Monsoon is currently progressing at its normal pace and is active over the West Coast region.

As per Skymet Weather, a cyclonic circulation was persisting over Madhya Maharashtra and adjoining coastal Maharashtra. Another cyclonic circulation is extending over West Rajasthan and a trough from this system is extending up to Bay of Bengal across Madhya Pradesh. These combined weather systems are responsible for heavy rains over the state.

Now we expect moderate to heavy showers to continue over the western districts of the state for another three to four days. These rains will further increase the surplus of west Madhya Pradesh and we expect Monsoon to reach over southwest Madhya Pradesh in next two to three days.
However, East Madhya Pradesh will continue to receive light rains for the next three to four days. In the coming days, contrast of rains between East and West Madhya Pradesh will remain very high.
Temperatures across southwestern districts are very pleasant which are likely to prevail for the next few days.
