Almost all the meteorological divisions of North India are large rain deficient. Weather is almost dry. In fact, pre monsoon rains were also remained significantly low over northern states of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, North Rajasthan, and western part of Uttar Pradesh. Due to frequent prolonged dry spells, extended heat wave conditions were witnessed over these areas.
Pre monsoon rains may commence over northern parts of Punjab and Haryana as well as foothills of Uttar Pradesh on June 15. Thereafter, intensity of rain will increase and will cover most parts of Punjab, Haryana, and many parts of West Uttar Pradesh. Delhi and North Rajasthan may also receive scattered rain between June 16 and 20.
Temperature is likely to drop over most parts of North India. Pre monsoon weather activities may continue until onset of Monsoon over North India. Until then, isolated pockets of Haryana, Punjab and Delhi may witness heat wave or heat wave like conditions.
