Pre-monsoon season commenced with rainy note over North India

March 1, 2023 8:31 PM |

Dry and warm weather conditions continued over most parts of the Northern Plains during February. In fact, February of 2023 turns out to be hottest in last 122 years. Last day of February witnessed scattered rain and thunder showers over many parts of Punjab parts of Haryana Delhi North Rajasthan and western parts of Uttar Pradesh. Rain and thunder showers are continuing March 1st also.

These weather activities can be attributed to intense Western disturbance over Western Himalayas and induced cyclonic circulation over northern plains. Moisture feed was available from Arabian Sea in the form of South Westerly winds as well as from western disturbance.

Rain will start reducing from night of March 1st and weather will be almost clear on March 2nd. Day temperatures have reduced over parts of Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, and Delhi. There will be gradual increase in day temperatures from March 2nd onward. Minimum temperatures have shown increasing trend due to cloud cover over north India. We expect temperatures to reduce by 2 to 3 degrees over Northern Plains in next 48 hours.
