Pre-Monsoon rains to pick up pace over MaharashtraThe state of Maharashtra has remained dry for quite some time now. Not only this, temperatures have also been on the higher side. In fact, many areas in the state have been observing above normal maximums.

However, rain gods have made an appearance over the state of Maharashtra during the last 48 hours. In fact, as per two days, south Maharashtra has been receiving isolated rains.

During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Thursday, Sangli received a good 9 mm of rain, Dharwad 4 mm, Harnai 2 mm, Mahabaleshwar 1 mm, Satara 0.6 mm, and Bijapur 0.6 mm.

Pre-Monsoon rains to pick up pace over Maharashtra

Now, Interior parts of Maharashtra particularly Madhya Maharashtra will receive pre Monsoon activity. Isolated rains are likely over the aforementioned areas today and tomorrow.

Thereafter, the intensity of rains over interior parts of Maharashtra particularly Vidarbha region is expected to increase May 8 onward. Meanwhile, coastal areas will remain dry barring a few areas including Dahanu and Mahabaleshwar.

These weather conditions are attributed to the trough, which is extending from Central India to Interior Karnataka and Tamil Nadu across Vidarbha, Marathwada and southern parts of Madhya Marathwada.

For the next two days, temperatures will rise. Northerly winds will blow from the land resulting in an increase in temperatures. Thereafter, there is likely to be a change in wind pattern and winds will once again blow from the Arabian Sea. Along with this, rain activity will result in a drop of temperatures.
