This pre-Monsoon season, the state of Tamil Nadu didn’t receive enough rains and at present, is large deficient by 66%. In fact, this state has been witnessing dry weather from past many days and the temperatures are above normal.

However, as predicted, pre-Monsoon rains returned to the state on Tuesday. During past 24 hours, moderate to heavy rains have occurred over the interior parts of the state. Places like Coimbatore, Dharmapuri recorded moderate to heavy rains. Meanwhile, Salem, Tiruttani, K.Paramathi witnessed scattered light rains.

These rains were in the wake of a Cyclonic Circulation which was persisting over South Interior Karnataka and adjoining Tamil Nadu. Now, a north-south trough is extending from Maharashtra to Comorin area across Tamil Nadu. Hence, good rains seem to continue over parts of Interior Tamil Nadu.

Whereas, weather over the coastal areas would be almost dry with isolated thundery activities on account of local development. Pre-Monsoon rains could be a sight over Vellore, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Salem, Nilgiri and Coimbatore during the next 24 hours.
