Like most parts of India, Pre Monsoon showers have made an appearance over many parts of East India including Jharkhand, Bihar and West Bengal. During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Thursday, Bankura recorded 25 mm of rain, Gaya 20 mm, Ranchi 20 mm, Midnapore 10 mm, Jamshedpur 3 mm, Purulia 4 mm, Patna trace.
More rains are coming up for all the three states of East India including Jharkhand, West Bengal and Bihar. The reason for these activities are multiple systems including the Western Disturbance over the hills, a couple of Circulations. Another reason is that for East India, moisture is always pumped from the Bay of Bengal as an anti cyclone is semi permanently stationed over Head Bay and is fuelling southwesterly moist winds over these areas.
For these areas, rains will be light to moderate on March 17. Intense rains may be seen on March 18, 19 and 20, some parts may see heavier showers with rains being between moderate to heavy. March 21 will see a reduction in rainfall while clearance may be seen starting March 22.
