Rainfall has been a regular story for Northeast India this pre-Monsoon season. While almost the entire country is struggling with the heat conditions and burning temperature levels, Northeast India is enjoying the good spell of showers.

Most states of the region like AssamMeghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh have been witnessing rains since the last few days. According to Skymet Weather report, this year pre-Monsoon activities were very good over most parts of Northeast India.

On and off good rains and thundershower activities are going on since April. Till now these areas have not witnessed any prolonged dry period. Moist winds from Bay of Bengal are continuously blowing over Northeast, which is the reason for these rainfall activities.

On and off trough or cyclonic circulation have been forming over Assam, Meghalaya and sometimes Sub-Himalayan West Bengal. During the last 24 hours, many parts of Assam received good rains.

Goal Para received  28 mm of rain, Tangla  13 mm, and Kohima 13 mm. We expect moderate to heavy rains throughout the week over Northeastern states particularly western parts.

Assam is expected to receive moderate to heavy rains. Whereas other parts of Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh will also receive good rains in the coming week.

Rain intensity over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura will be comparatively less.  Monsoon rains would reach Northeastern parts of the country by the first week of June .
