Since the beginning of May, on and off pre-Monsoon weather activities in the form dust storm, thunderstorm, rain and thundershowers are occurring over the state of Rajasthan, due to the presence of induced cyclonic circulations over parts of Rajasthan.

In fact, yesterday, southern parts of Rajasthan particularly Barmer, Jalor and Jaisalmer recorded dust storm activity followed by light rains.

Now a fresh Western Disturbance is approaching the Western Himalayas and it is likely to induce a cyclonic circulation over parts of Rajasthan. Therefore, we can say that the intensity and spread of weather activities in Rajasthan are likely to increase once again tomorrow onwards.

Rain and thundershower activities will initially commence over the western and northern parts of the state including places like Sri Ganganagar, Hanumangarh, Alwar, Sikar, Churu, Tonk, Jaipur and Ajmer. Gradually during the coming two to three days, weather activities will pick up pace and cover most parts of South Rajasthan as well.

In the wake of these weather activities, temperatures which have increased slightly will drop and most places of Rajasthan will observe their maximum temperatures below 40 degree Celsius. Heat is expected to stay away from the state for at least next three to four days.

This year in May Rajasthan is witnessing very good pre-Monsoon rains as compared to the last few years. These rains are very beneficial for soil moisture and upcoming crops.

Normally, the western parts of Rajasthan do not witness much rains during the month of May. However, this year till now, the actual rainfall observed in Barmer is 62 mm, followed by Phalodi 36 mm, Jaisalmer 28 mm, Jodhpur 15 mm and Bikaner 11 mm.
