Rains, hailstorm make Delhi pleasant; more showers likely

As reiterated by Skymet Weather, Delhi and NCR region has received rain and thundershowers on both May 28 and morning hours of today.

In a span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Sunday, Safdarjung Observatory recorded light showers of 8 mm, while Palam Observatory recorded a mere of 5 mm. Other regions that have received rain activity include Ayanagar and Ridge.

These rains have led the temperatures to plummet considerably. In fact, yesterday, the maximum temperature was 36°C as compared to the maximum temperature that was recorded around 44°C on May 26.

All thanks to the presence of a trough that is extending from Central Pakistan to West Uttar Pradesh across Delhi. With these rain and thundershowers, heatwave conditions have taken a back seat, leading to comfortable weather over the national capital.

As per Skymet Weather, this trough is expected to persist for another two days. Hence we can expect on and off rain or thundershowers, dust storm to hover over the capital city until May 31.

Thereafter, change in wind direction is anticipated which will then blow from northwest direction, leading to dry weather.

With this, temperatures will also start rising again, but this increase in mercury level will not be sharp. So, heatwave conditions are not expected to make  a comeback for at least next 3 to 4 days. Delhiites will not have to deal with the discomfort which is typical during this time of the year.
