As against the scorching heat and dry weather that has engulfed most parts of Central and West India, states in the northeastern region are comparatively having a rainy time.
Incessant rains have been lashing the northeast region of the country from last many days. So much so that a few heavy three-digit falls have also been recorded by some of the regions of Northeast India.
Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh had witnessed light to moderate rainfall in the last 24 hours as well. Within a span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Saturday, Pasighat witnessed 19 mm of rains, Dibrugarh 16 mm, Tangla 14 mm, Silchar 7 mm, and Chaparmukh observed 5 mm of rains.
As per Skymet Weather, the reason for these rains can be attributed to cyclonic circulation which is continuously over Assam and Meghalaya and at times over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal. Moreover, a trough from this systems also extends up to Odisha leading to moisture incursion winds to prevail from the Bay of Bengal over Northeast India.
Skymet Weather further predicts the possibility of scattered rains to continue for next 48 hours over Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh. Weather across Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura (NMMT) will be almost dry but chances of isolated light showers at a few places cannot be ruled out.
Moreover, the rain intensity across the region is expected to once again increase around April 15.
