Punjab and Haryana are witnessing dry and hot weather conditions since the last few days. in fact, in the absence of any weather system, northwesterly winds have commenced over these states during the last 48 hours.

Thus, we expect both day and night temperatures to rise in Punjab and Haryana. Isolated pockets of Haryana such as Hisar and Sirsa may even come under heat wave like condition, with day temperatures touching 45˚C.

We expect maximum temperatures to keep increasing for the coming two days as well. Thereafter, winds will change direction and humidity will increase commencing pre-Monsoon weather activities.

Light rain and dust storm activities will occur in isolated pockets of Punjab and Haryana on May 10. Further, intensity and spread of these weather activities will increase.

On and off rain and thundershower activities especially during late afternoon and evening hours will occur over many parts of both these states.

This will be a prolonged spell of widespread pre-Monsoon weather activities as from May 10 it is expected to continue till May 16. Intensity will be more on May 13 and 14. Few heavy showers may also occur.

During this time, temperatures will drop significantly, and heat wave will abate from most parts of North India. In fact, after this prolonged spell, the rain deficiency over most regions of Northwest India will reduce to some extent.
