Pre-Monsoon Rains to Bring Relief to Parched Parts of Maharashtra including Mumbai:

While Maharashtra typically experiences minimal rain during the pre-monsoon season, this year has seen a mixed bag. Between March 1 and May 11, the region of Vidarbha received an exceptional 251% surplus of rainfall, while Marathwada enjoyed a more moderate 32% surplus. However, Madhya Maharashtra, and Konkan and Goa have faced deficits of 47% and 36% respectively.

This trend is set to change as widespread rainfall intensifies across the state. From May 12 to 14, residents can expect light to moderate rain and thunderstorms throughout Maharashtra. There's a chance of isolated heavy showers in South Konkan and Goa, as well as South Madhya Maharashtra on May 13 and 14.

Mumbaikars can also look forward to some welcome respite from the humid and hot weather, with a few good spells of rain predicted for May 12 and 13. Rainfall is expected to be particularly intense in Sangli, Satara, Kolhapur, Sindhudurg, Ratnagiri, Pune, and Mahabaleshwar.

While the rain will likely subside after May 14, scattered rain and thunderstorms are still expected to linger over parts of Maharashtra, particularly Marathwada and South Madhya Maharashtra, until May 18, albeit with less intensity.

This pre-monsoon rain spell is a positive development, as it will replenish soil moisture and potentially alleviate water scarcity issues in many parts of the state. The upcoming showers will bring much-needed relief to the parched regions and offer a welcome break from the pre-monsoon heat for residents across Maharashtra.
