Pre-Monsoon rains to bring relief over Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Jharkhand

April 7, 2016 3:29 PM |

rain-in-OdishaFresh spell of pre-Monsoon showers is approaching Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and Jharkhand during the next 24-48 hours. According to Skymet Weather, we can expect scattered light to moderate rain and thundershowers over the region.

These rains can be attributed to the development of the confluence zone over East India.

Humid southwesterly winds have been blowing from the anti-cyclonic circulation marked in Bay of Bengal.

These winds are interacting with cool and dry northwesterly winds from northern region.

This merging of two opposing winds will lead to formation of clouds and subsequently resulting in rain and thundershowers activities.

According to Skymet Weather, this anti-cyclonic circulation is semi-permanent feature in Bay of Bengal during the pre-Monsoon season. This system keeps on oscillating near and far from coast, giving rains over Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Jharkhand, North Coastal Andhra Pradesh in intervals.

This wet spell will bring much-needed relief from hot weather conditions prevailing over the states for last many days.

Though on and off isolated rains have been witnessed over the region but could not prevent the day temperatures from shooting up significantly. This has also led to the heat wave conditions over the isolated pockets in Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and few parts of Odisha.

However in wake of approaching weather, day temperatures have already dropped marginally and easing out the hot day conditions. Further drop by 2-3 degrees are expected during next 24-48 hours.

Jamshedpur in Jharkhand, which had recorded 43°C on April 5, witnessed a drop and settled at 40.2°C on April 7.
