Pre-Monsoon rains to begin soon over Gujarat

May 4, 2017 5:12 PM |

Rain in Gujarat

The rising temperatures have mainly affected the central and northwestern parts of the country including Gujarat. The ongoing trend has changed and the state is now witnessing a marginal fall in the day temperatures.

Several parts of the country were witnessing intense heatwave conditions wherein the day temperatures were shooting up and settling close to 45-degree mark.

Meanwhile, a cyclonic circulation is expected to form over Gujarat and adjoining North Maharashtra. A trough is also seen extending from North Madhya Maharashtra up to South West Arabian sea.

Due to this, we are likely to expect scattered rain and thundershower activities over South Gujarat on May 6-7.  During these two to three days, most parts of South Gujarat will witness the first spell of pre-Monsoon showers.

According to Skymet Weather, this weather condition can be attributed to the change in wind pattern. These winds will start blowing from the Arabian Sea which will be relatively cool and humid in nature. Thus, many districts of Gujarat like Surat, Valsad, Bharuch, Narmada, Vadodara, Dang, and Bhavnagar are expected to record scattered light rains in the upcoming days.

Heatwave conditions which have been wreaking havoc over the region will abate in the next 2 to 3 days and are not expected to commence over South Gujarat for the next few days.
