Hyderabad has remained dry for last two days but we expect pre-Monsoon rains to make comeback over the city during the next 24 to 48 hours. However, rains will be scattered and patchy in nature.
As reiterated by Skymet Weather, these showers will be on account of the wind discontinuity which has been prevailing over the region for the last several days.
The wind discontinuity is seen extending from Vidarbha region of Maharashtra up to Tamil Nadu across Telangana and Rayalaseema.
Though rains may have escaped Hyderabad during last 48 hours but nearby areas have recording pre-Monsoon rains at regular intervals.
This rain activity has kept a check on the maximum temperatures and they are still settling below normal average. On Wednesday, Hyderabad recorded 38°C that was one degree below normal.
Now as we progress further in the month, rain and thundershowers will take backseat May 14 onwards. The wind discontinuity also known as trough is likely to shift westwards over Karnataka. With this, rain belt will also shift from Hyderabad and weather will go dry.
This will also lead to increase in day temperature once again but heatwave conditions will continue to abet the region.
Another spell of pre-Monsoon rain is in offing for Hyderabad from around May 18 or May 19.
