Pre-Monsoon rains inching closer to Rajkot, Ahmedabad

Spanning from April, Ahmedabad has remained dry almost the entire month of May as well. Though a few light showers were observed by the city on May 22. But from almost a week, dry weather has gripped Ahmedabad. On account of this dry spell, the mercury level also shot up to settle in mid-40.

However, in the last 24 hours, the maximums have subsided to settle between the 39-40°C but rains have still refrained themselves to pour over the city. But now Skymet Weather foresees some rains paving way towards the city.

As per Skymet Weather, a cyclonic circulation is prevailing over North Arabian Sea and a trough from this system is extending up to Konkan and Goa. Moreover, a feeble trough is also likely to develop near Gujarat. Also as moisture incursion is taking place from the Arabian Sea, isolated showers during late afternoon or evening hours in the upcoming days cannot be ruled out.

In the wake of these weather systems, light rains are likely to occur at one or two places over interior Gujarat by June 1. In fact, between June 1 and June 3, districts like Rajkot and Ahmedabad stands a strong chance to witness one or two short spells of rains though the possibility of heavy showers is ruled out as of now. These rain and thundershowers will thereby add on in plummeting the temperatures further. Thereafter June 3, weather across Ahmedabad will once again become dry.
