In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Tuesday, Aligarh recorded light rain to the tune of 6.2 mm, Moradabad 1 mm and Kanpur 0.6 mm rains.

The adjoining state of Bihar is also observing scattered rainfall activity. In the last 24 hours, Muzaffarpur recorded 29.4 mm rains followed by Bhagalpur at 9.4 mm.

As per Skymet Weather, these rains occurred due to the cyclonic circulation which is over North Haryana and adjoining Uttar Pradesh and a trough which was extending up to Assam. Moreover, the thunderclouds which formed over West Uttar Pradesh or Haryana traveled towards East Uttar Pradesh due to the westerly winds in upper levels and resulted in rains during the past two days.

At Present, a cyclonic circulation is in southwest Uttar Pradesh in lower levels and another cyclonic circulation is over East Uttar Pradesh and adjoining Bihar. In fact, a trough is also extending between these weather systems.

Now, we expect scattered light to moderate rains to continue over the foothills of Uttar Pradesh for another 24 hours due to these weather systems. In fact, isolated rains are also likely over the central districts of Uttar Pradesh. As per weathermen, scattered rains will also continue over Bihar during the next 24 hours. Districts such as Nazimabad, Bareilly, Moradabad, Shahjahanpur, Lucknow, Kanpur, Bahraich, Bhagalpur, Farbesganj, and Gorakhpur are likely to observe pre Monsoon rainfall activity during the next 24 hours.

Thereafter, the intensity of rains is expected to reduce significantly. On April 12, only light rain is likely at isolated pockets. By April 13, weather is expected to become completely dry and warm over Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. During that time, winds in the lower levels will also start blowing from west or northwest direction leading to warm and dry weather.

At present both minimum and maximum temperatures are settling near normal or below normal. However, when dry weather would grip Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, both the temperatures are likely to increase and would settle above normal.
