Pre-Monsoon rains in Kerala to take a short break

Pre-Monsoon rains in Kerala to take a short breakRain gods have been bestowing their kindness over the residents of Kerala for quite some time now. God’s own country has been receiving on and off rainfall for the past one week. In fact, during the last one week, there have been numerous occasions when the coastal state has recorded some heavy showers as well.

These Pre-Monsoon rains have been attributed to the trough which has been present over the Kerala region on a continuous basis for the last few days. Due to this trough, a few areas of Kerala were witnessing a rainy spell for quite some time.

The last 24 hours were rainy for the state of Kerala with a few regions witnessing light rains. In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, Alappuzha recorded 2.3 mm of rainfall, Kannur 1 mm, and Kochi 1.2 mm. Traces of rainfall were also recorded over Punalur.

Now, the trough which was persisting over the state of Kerala has moved away from the region. Now, the same trough is extending from Telangana to east central Arabian Sea across north interior Karnataka. Thus, rainfall activity will now take a backseat over the state of Kerala.

However, these weather conditions will persist only for the next two days. Thereafter, rainy days and pleasant weather conditions will once again make a comeback over the state.
