Most parts of Kerala have been witnessing dry weather conditions in the month of February. In fact, the month of March also started with dry spell. But since past few days, parts ofKeralahave been lashed by some good showers.
In a span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Wednesday, Alappuzha recorded 27 mm of moderate rainfall, followed by Thiruvananthapuram 22 mm, Kozhikode 21.5 mm and Kottayam 15 mm. Few places also recorded some traces of rainfall.
These rain and thundershower activities can be attributed to a cyclonic circulation over North InteriorKarnatakaand adjoining areas. Also, a trough is extending from this system up to Lakshadweep Islands. With the combined effect of these two weather systems, several parts of the states have managed to get light to moderate showers.
As per Skymet Weather, this rain activity is likely to continue over parts of the state during next 48 hours as well. Thereafter, the intensity of these rains will reduce, however on and off light rains will continue over the region. Hereafter, these showers may take a backseat, with dry and clear weather commencing once again over Kerala.
Moreover, both maximum and minimum temperatures that are settling below normal in southern districts of Kerala and slightly above normal in northern districts will record an upward trend.
