May 1, 2019 8:46 AM | Skymet Weather Team

Scattered light to moderate rainfall activity occurred over Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand during the last 24 hours. Jammu and Kashmir also observed few isolated spells of rain.

Now the current Western Disturbance has moved away eastwards. But another fresh Western Disturbance will approach the Western Himalayas in quick succession. Therefore, we expect on and off rain and thundershowers with isolated snowfall to continue over Jammu Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand till May 3.

Rains are now going to increase over the hills of North India. However, the intensity will remain mainly light with one or two moderate spells in the higher reaches. No obstruction is likely over all these hilly states.

As summer season has almost begun and people are vacation ready, we can say that the weather over the hilly states of North India is expected to remain pleasant and cool. This is also the idol time to pay visit to the famous hill stations such as Srinagar, Manali, Kullu, Shimla, Nainital, Dehradun and Mussoorie.

Light rains will keep the day temperatures cool and nights will naturally remain cold. Vaishno Devi and Katra may also witness light rain and thundershower activities. But as heavy rains are ruled out the chances of land slide and mud slide will be ruled out.

Further, as we move towards May, the frequency of Western Disturbances will also start decreasing and their nature will become feeble.
