Pre Monsoon rains in Karnataka, Kerala and parts of Tamil Nadu

The southern peninsula has been recording scattered pre Monsoon rainfall activity for the past many days. In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Friday, Gulgarba recorded rain to the tune of 16.5 mm, Gadag 4.2 mm, Belgaum 3 mm and Raichur 2.4 mm. In the same time frame, Thiruvananthapuram recorded traces of rain.

As per Skymet Weather, a trough is extending from the central parts of the country up to South Konkan region. Moreover, easterly winds are blowing over entire Tamil Nadu. Henceforth, most parts of Tamil Nadu are likely to observe warm and humid weather conditions. Meanwhile, light rain is possible over the Nilgiri regions and south coastal stations of Tamil Nadu.

In fact, Chennai may also witness isolated thunderstorm activity in the next 24 hours. Thereafter, Chennai rains might also make a comeback after 24 hours.

In wake of the trough, North Karnataka is also expected to receive rain and thundershower activity at some places. While southern parts of the state would remain mainly dry. In fact, the northern parts of the state would also witness a marginal drop in maximum temperatures. Bengaluru might also observe partly cloudy sky conditions with chances of light rains or thunderstorm for a short duration in the next 24 hours.

In fact, Kerala is also expected to record scattered light rain and thundershower activity during the next 24 hours. However, the weather during the day would be warm and humid.
