Pre-Monsoon rains in Hyderabad to continue for 2 more days

Pre-Monsoon rains have extended their stay over Hyderabad for some more days. According to Skymet Weather, weather conditions remain favourable for some more rain and thundershowers over the capital city.

We can expect isolated spells of thundershowers and thunderstorm activities to continue for at least another 48 hours.

The ongoing wet spell can be attributed to a trough running from Vidarbha up to Tamil Nadu across Telangana and Rayalaseema. The trough is likely to prevail over the region for next two days giving rain over the respective areas including Hyderabad.

This trough is a semi-permanent feature during the pre-Monsoon season which keeps oscillating from east to west or vice-versa.

Further, the trough is likely to persist for another week but is likely to shift westwards over Marathwada or Madhya Maharashtra by May 13. With this, pre-Monsoon rains will also take a backseat over Hyderabad and weather will go dry over the city from May 13 to May 15.

Temperatures are also expected to rise marginally during this time. However, leftover moisture in the air may lead some isolated thunderstorm or thundershower.

Hyderabad has been experiencing pre-Monsoon showers since April 30, barring two occasions on May 6 and May 10. So far, the city has recorded 113.5 mm of rain against the monthly average of 31.7 mm.
