Pre-Monsoon rains in Hyderabad to abate heatwave soon

Telangana has already been reeling under intense heatwave conditions. So much so that the mercury levels shot up and settled four degrees above the normal average. Somewhat similar is the situation with Hyderabad as well, which is battling heatwave-like conditions.

The reason for this persistence dry and hot weather can be related to the absence of any significant weather system due to which rains have remained absent from pouring over the city from quite a long time. However, Skymet Weather predicts that some rains and thundershowers are expected to show up in parts of Hyderabad in the next 24 hours.

As per Skymet Weather, a trough is seen passing through Vidarbha and Marathwada region of Maharashtra. Due to this, rains are likely to make an appearance over Hyderabad and parts of Telangana on Saturday. Thereafter, this trough is likely to shift over Telangana which may lead to an increase in the rainfall activities over parts of the state on Sunday.

However, chances of heavy pre-Monsoon showers are ruled out. These rains will be light in nature and will be highly localized. Only a few localized showers are likely in the city. There will not be a significant impact on the temperature profile but it will still lead to the abatement of heatwave-like conditions.

Though Hyderabad has already surpassed its monthly average rainfall that stands at 31.7 mm within a single spell of 61 mm on May 9, that has not resulted in dropping the soaring mercury levels and the temperatures have mainly remained near the 43-degree mark. On Thursday too, Hyderabad recorded the daytime high of 43°C.

However, after this rainy episode, the impact of these showers are likely to increase by next week and then the pre-Monsoon showers will keep on battering Hyderabad and parts of Telangana.
