Parts of Tamil Nadu were embraced with rainy spells yesterday. Skymet Weather has already iterated about more rainy spells lashing the state including Chennai.
Present weather conditions are also conducive for chances of light rain and thundershowers in Chennai. Clouding has also started to build up and Chennai can expect light rains during the late evening and is expected to continue for another 24 hours.
Thereafter, the weather of the state capital will once again become dry. Temperatures may also rise two to three notches beyond normal.
These light rains had pulled down the mounting temperatures and brought a relief from the sultry weather conditions.
In span of the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Friday, Dharmapuri recorded 22 mm of rain, Madurai 25.4 mm, Salem 3 mm, Kodaikanal 4 mm, Tirucharipalli 1.3 mm and Coimbatore observed few traces of rain.
At present, warm and humid weather conditions are prevailing over the region. Due to this, both the maximum and minimum temperature are settling above normal.
In the last 24 hours, Chennai saw the mercury hitting 30 degrees plus and settled at 33.1°C. In fact, the minimums have also settled five degrees above the normal at 27.9°C.
The humid and warm weather condition in the coastal region of the city may even warm the interior parts of Chennai and such a humid condition is likely to remain for another 48 hours.
