The month of May kick-started with a few traces of rain for Bengaluru. The state capital has been witnessing on and off pre-Monsoon showers since April 16. The last rainy spells that Bengaluru has seen was on May 2, thereafter, the weather soon went on to become dry. From past two to three days, Bengaluru has remained arid.

In the wake of the prevailing dry weather, the maximums have also shot high by nominal notches. On Thursday, the daytime high went two degrees above the normal and settled at 36°C. The minimums too rose by the same value and rested at 24.4°C.

However, now rainy days are foreseen for the so-called ‘Silicon Valley of India’. As per Skymet Weather, rains are expected to make an appearance over the city within the next 24 to 48 hours. A trough was seen passing through coastal areas of Karnataka. Due to this, rains were confined to the coastal zones and thus even the intensity of rains was also more in the coastal regions.

However, now this trough is expected to shift eastwards towards Bengaluru and on account of this, people residing in the state capital can expect rains showing up on May 6 and May 7. Though the intensity of rains will be more on May 7 as compared with that on May 6.

However, Skymet Weather reiterates that the month of May will prove to be a rainy month for the entire city. On and off showers are likely to continue during the entire month and a complete dry spell is out of the picture as of now.

In a nutshell, pleasant weather along with on and off spells is what is stored in for Bengaluru this month.
