Popular hill stations of Uttarakhand and Jammu and Kashmir like Mussorie and Srinagar also witnessed drizzles in the last 24 hours. Let’s take a look at some of the districts of Northern hills that witnessed rain and snow within the span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Thursday:

As per Skymet Weather, these rains and snowfall were on account of the Western Disturbance that affected the Western Himalayan region. However, now, the Western Disturbance as an upper air system has moved northeastwards. It can now be marked over north Jammu and Kashmir.

This system is further likely to move in the northeast direction. Therefore, reduced rainfall activity is likely to continue over the region mainly over the higher reaches of the hills and parts of plains. Rain and snow are expected to confine mainly over East Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

However, Skymet Weather iterates that another Western Disturbance is expected to approach the Western Himalayas on March 19. This system will once again bring another round of rain and snow over the hills of North India.
