Pre Monsoon rains coming up for parts of Maharashtra

June 7, 2022 9:00 AM | Skymet Weather Team

The state of Maharashtra is expected to see some Pre Monsoon showers in the coming days. Usually, Monsoon makes an appearance over Konkan and other parts of Maharashtra between June 5 and 15, but there could be a slight delay in the onset of Monsoon 2022 this time, despite Monsoon already having advanced to Karwar on Karnataka Coast.

Tomorrow, parts of south Konkan and South Madhya Maharashtra can see some rainfall activities. The cities of Sangli, Satara, and adjoining areas could even see some moderate spells of rain.

Around June 8, rain spread and intensity will increase, and South Marathwada will also see some rainfall activities. Konkan will remain light and no rains will be seen over Vidarbha. There could be some heavy spells in isolated pockets as well.

On June 9, rains will be seen over parts of Vidarbha, but they will remain scattered and light to moderate in intensity. Rains will see a reduction in activities.

One should not commensurate these rainfall activities with Monsoon rains, as these showers are Pre Monsoon rains lasting for three days.
