The weather gods have finally answered the prayers of people living in northwest parts of the country. From last night rains have graced parts of Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan. Even few parts of Delhi witnessed light to moderate rainfall today morning.

For a long time, weather of Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Delhi remained dry. Hence, the temperatures over the region scaled up to 40 degrees Celsius making the daily life tough for the locals. But, rain has finally made an appearance over the region.

The reason for these rainy spell can be attributed to multiple number of weather systems, they are:

  1. A fresh Western Disturbance has approached Jammu and Kashmir. This means that the few parts of Jammu and Kashmir are also likely to witness some rainy spells.
  2. Thanks to this Western Disturbance an induced cyclonic circulation is seen over Central Pakistan and adjoining parts of Punjab.
  3. A small trough is seen from this cyclonic circulation up to West Uttar Pradesh across Delhi and NCR.

Due the combined effect of all these weather systems, rain has made the weather over parts Punjab, Haryana and Delhi pleasant.

This rain activity is likely to continue over Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan for another 24 to 48 hours. This will make the temperatures over the entire region to drop by 3-4 degrees Celsius bringing in the much needed relief from summer heat.

Few parts of Haryana may even witness duststorm activity.
