As predicted by Skymet Weather, rain and thundershowers have started lashing Pune on Saturday evening. Rain bearing clouds had started hovering over the city since late afternoon hours, with rains following soon.
According to Skymet Weather, some moderate to heavy spell may also occur over the city today. These fresh pre-Monsoon rains can be attributed to the trough running from Arabian Sea along the West Coast. As a result, moist southwesterly winds have been blowing over Pune, resulting in formation over convective clouds.
Besides rains, several areas of Maharashtra are also reporting thunder storm along with squally winds.

These weather activities have ushered in much needed relief from the scorching afternoon, as temperatures have taken a dip.
Further, with the trough likely to get more marked, we expected that weather conditions will remain conducive for more spells of rain and thundershowers over Pune and adjoining areas during the next 2-3 days.
