Showers in KolkataAnother spell of rains and thundershowers has begun over Kolkata. Southeastern parts of the city have already seen some showers. At present, thunderclouds are engulfing the city and rains are likely to cover other parts of the city very soon.

According to the Skymet Weather, the cyclonic circulation over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal continues to persist and so does the trough running from this system till North Odisha.

Squally winds with the speed of 40 kmph- 50 kmph can also be witnessed over the state capital during this period. However, the nature of weather activity will be short lived but intense.

Live status of Lightning and thunderstorm across IndiaWeathermen predict that weather conditions will remain favourable for the rain and thundershowers to continue for another 24-48 hours. The system is likely to persist over the region for some more time but intensity of rains will reduce.

True to their characteristics, these pre-Monsoon rain and thundershowers will occur during the late afternoon or evening hours. Thus, they will not have much impact over the temperature profile.

Day maximums will continue to hover around 35°C or 36°C, keeping the weather hot and humid. So far, the city has recorded 4.4 mm of rain as compared to its monthly average of 136.6 mm.
