Residents of North India have been enjoying comfortable weather conditions during early morning and late evening hours. Afternoon hours become a little hot and humid, but maximums are definitely below normal.
Pre-Monsoon activity in parts of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and west Uttar Pradesh brought down mercury below normal average.
According to Skymet, continuous occurrence of dust storm and thundershowers across North India will keep temperatures under check. Blistering heat is not likely at least for next couple of days.
Rain in North India
We can expect some dust storm followed by thundershowers in Delhi-NCR, Punjab, Haryana and west Uttar Pradesh on Saturday as well. Sunday will be relatively dry and day temperatures could rise marginally. However, a fresh Western Disturbance is approaching Jammu and Kashmir. The system will start affecting weather from May 17 and trickle down to the plains by the next day.
Temperatures in North India
At present, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Jammu and Kashmir are the only states where maximums are above normal. Rest of the country is enjoying below normal temperatures. On Friday, the Sajdarjung Observatory in Delhi recorded 35.7°C as maximum, which is 4 degrees below normal. Here, minimum temperature recorded today morning was also 4 degrees below normal at 22°C. Day temperatures in most parts of Punjab are also below the normal average. Maximums in Amritsar, Bhatinda, Jalandhar, Chandigarh and Ferozepur are in the range of 32°C to 35°C.
