East India is a favored pocket for violent thunderstorm activities with Kaal Baisakhi or Nor'westers affecting the region. A cyclonic circulation is prevailing in the eastern parts of the country including East Uttar Pradesh, North East Madhya Pradesh, North Chhattisgarh and South West Uttar Pradesh. Due to this, there is moisture taking place in the Eastern region including Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal. Because of which,  Pre Monsoon thundershower activity has taken place in the last 24 hours.

Temperatures in the Eastern region of the country are likely to be normal with days not giving much relief from heat. However, a dip in the night temperature is still expected. Some pockets in the East India have received moderate to heavy rainfall. Digha, West Bengal has recorded 43 mm rainfall which is maximum in the Eastern region. Shantiniketan in West Bengal and Gaya in Bihar has recorded 21 mm and 5 mm rain respectively. Moreover, scattered rain-thundershowers are also expected over Jharkhand and Odisha for next 2 days.

With spell of rain, the temperature for the aforesaid stations has also dipped. The maximum temperature of Digha recorded on Monday as on 08:30 am was 36.2 degrees which was 3 degrees above the monthly average however the minimum temperature was 4 degrees below the monthly average temperature captured at 22.5 degrees. Gaya has been witnessing pleasant weather as the temperatures have been recorded at 38.7°C on Monday which is 2 degrees below its normal range.

We can expect some more rains in these regions but as the cyclonic circulation is heading southwards, there could be a reduction in the Pre Monsoon activity.
