Rainy spells over East and Northeast India continue for the fifth consecutive day, with intensity varying from light to moderate rain.
According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, the cyclonic circulation is still persisting over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining areas of Bihar and Jharkhand and is giving rain over the region.
Moreover, confluence of northwesterly winds from Odisha and Jharkhand and moist southwesterly winds from Bay of Bengal have enhanced this pre-Monsoon activity.
As per the latest forecast by Skymet, wet spell will continue over East India for next two to three days. However, as the cyclonic circulation gradually moves northeastwards, the intense rain activity will also shift its focus on to Northeast India for next 4 to 5 days.
The moisture incursion from Bay of Bengal will also continue over the northeastern states increasing the rain spread and intensity. With this, we can expect intense thundershower activity, especially over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Assam Valley.
Let us have a look at the rainfall figures across East and Northeast Indian in a span of last 24 hours till 8:30 am on Thursday.
