Central India including Madhya Pradesh has remained under the tight grip of heatwave conditions for quite some time now. To such an extent that the day temperatures remained above 40-degree mark, well above the normal limits. However, pre-Monsoon rains have finally commenced over this state.

As per weathermen at Skymet, many districts of Southeast Madhya Pradesh like Ujjain, Indore, Satna, Chhindwara, Balaghat and Rewa have started witnessing isolated pre-Monsoon rains along with squally winds.

These rains could be attributed to a cyclonic circulation over South Chhattisgarh. Such weather conditions are expected to continue for 24 hours. Meanwhile, the other stations of Madhya Pradesh will remain under the grip of hot and dry weather.

At present, most of the districts like Betul, Bhopal, Gwalior, Indore, Jabalpur and Ujjain are witnessing maximums mounting above 40 degrees while the minimums are also settling between 25°C and 30°C.

Live status of lightning and thunderstorm over Madhya Pradesh

By May 28 or 29, the intensity and spread of these rains will increase over many districts of East and Central Madhya Pradesh. These regions will observe scattered rains, while isolated activity cannot be ruled out over western parts. These rains will result in subsiding the prevailing temperatures. Hence a slight relief from the hot weather condition in the state is anticipated.

The month of May did bring some rains over a few districts while the other still remained parched.
