The eastern parts of the country had been recording extensive pre Monsoon rain and thunderstorm activity. The cyclonic circulation over Jharkhand and adjoining West Bengal has become less marked. Therefore, the intensity of weather activities reduced during the last 24 hours.

In the last 24 hours from 8: 30 am on Friday, Behrampore recorded rain to the tune of 11 mm, Jamshedpur 20 mm, Malda 3 mm, Balasore 0.6 mm and Purulia traces of rain.
As per Skymet Weather, another cyclonic circulation is prevailing over Sub Himalayan West Bengal and Bangladesh. In fact, a trough is also extending across the foothills of Bihar up to the northeastern states.
Today, thunderstorm and light rain with strong winds are expected in some parts of Northeast Bihar and parts of West Bengal including Malda, Behrampore, and Nadia. Isolated activity may also occur over Kolkata and adjoining regions.
Thunderclouds are also likely to develop in parts of Coastal Odisha. These regions are expected to witness some pre Monsoon activity as they in close proximity to the weather systems. Meanwhile, the interior parts of Odisha will record day temperatures 40°C at some places.
However, these systems are also not very active. Thus, ongoing activities over West Bengal, Odisha and Jharkhand are likely to decrease significantly after 24 hours. In fact, the temperatures are also expected to rise over Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal. After 24 hours, dry weather is expected to prevail across East India.
