Pre-Monsoon rain in Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Supaul, Purnea to reduce after 24 hours

Moderate showers along with one or two heavy spells have occurred over the eastern parts of Bihar and some chunks of Jharkhand in the past few days. The alst 24 hours rainfall could be attributed to the trough that is extending from North Rajasthan up to Bangladesh across Jharkhand.

In a span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Thursday, Purnea recorded a massive of 115 mm of rainfall. Other areas include Bhagalpur 53 mm, Supaul 28 mm, Daltonganj 15 mm, Farbesganj 14 mm, Bokaro 11 mm and Ranchi 8 mm.

Further, Skymet Weather predicts light to moderate rains along with one or two heavy spells to continue over Bihar as well as Jharkhand.

Places such as Daltonganj, Ranchi and Jamshedpur in Jharkhand; Bhagalpur, Purnea, Supaul in Bihar will witness these pre-Monsoon weather activities.

As the Monsoon has not yet reached this region of the country, accordingly the chances of occurrence of these showers would be mainly either during the early morning or late afternoon and evening hours.

Weathermen are of the view that the rain intensity might lessen after 24 hours. However, scattered rains are most expected to continue until Monsoon enters these states, which is likely to be around June 12-13.
