Rain in Odisha, West Bengal

Odisha and West Bengal have been witnessing intermittent rain and thundershowers for the last many days. These rains were in the wake of a Cyclonic Circulation that was persisting over Bangladesh. A trough from this system is extending up to South Peninsula across Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha. Moreover, humid winds from the Bay of Bengal are also feeding moisture over both the states. Hence, scattered rains are a result.

On the contrary, in the past 24 hours, the intensity of rains has reduced but scattered rains were seen over Gangetic West Bengal as well as in the northern districts of West Bengal. While isolated rains were witnessed over Odisha.

Now, the Cyclonic Circulation has shifted to South Bangladesh and adjoining West Bengal. Therefore, we expect scattered light to moderate rains to occur over Gangetic West Bengal and Coastal Odisha during next 48 hours. Post this, the intensity of rains would reduce over Odisha. However, scattered rains would continue over many parts of West Bengal with light intensity.

Few spells of rain and thunder shower at some places with moderate gusty wind will occur over Angul, Balangir, Balasore, Bargarh, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Debagarh, Dhenkanal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, Jajapur, Jharsuguda, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Kendrapara, Kendujhar, Khordha, Koraput, Malkangiri, Mayurbhanj, Nabarangpur, Nayagarh,Puri, Rayagada, Sambalpur, Subarnapur and Sundergarh.

Similarly, Digha, Kolkata, Diamond Harbour, and Contai would see rains. Also, the temperature is likely to go down by a couple of degrees over the rain-affected regions.
