Pre Monsoon rains have been going on over Kerala for the past many days. In fact, during the month of March, there have been very few instances when any part of the state did not record any activity. Particularly, the southern districts have been receiving continuous rainfall activity.

During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Tuesday, Alappuzha recorded rain to the tune of 12 mm followed by Punalur at 2.1 mm and Kottayam 1.4 mm rains.

These rains can be attributed to the various weather systems prevailing around the state.

The first system is a cyclonic circulation which is persisting over Interior Karnataka and adjoining regions. Another cyclonic circulation lies over the Comorin area. In fact, a trough is also extending between these two weather systems.

In wake of these above-mentioned weather systems, we expect on and off rains to continue over Kerala for another four and five days. Though the intensity of showers will vary but the weather will not go dry completely.

These thundershower and rainfall activities would mostly occur during the afternoon and evening hours. Despite these rains, the day is likely to be warm and humid as the maximum temperatures are expected to settle between 34°C and 36°C. Meanwhile, nights would be comfortable as the minimums are likely to range between 24°C and 27°C.
